Men's volleyball loses in the first round of the playoffs

The Irvine Valley men's volleyball team had its season ended Friday night in the 3C2A Southern California Regional Playoffs.

The Lasers, seeded sixth in So. Cal. fell in a regional game to No. 3 San Diego Mesa, 25-23, 25-21, 25-18, on Friday night.

IVC finished its season with a record of 11-8 overall. San Diego Mesa (20-4 overall) move on to play against No. 2 Golden West in a state semifinal at Orange Coast on Thursday.

Irvine Valley lost to Mesa early in the season (Mar. 6) in three sets.

For Irvine Valley on Friday, sophomore Damon Kooiman finished with 10 kills and hit .421 and sophomore Zach McEntire added nine kills for the Lasers.

Freshman setter and opposite Grant Dvorak contributed six kills and 12 assists.

The Lasers hit .222 as a team. San Diego Mesa hit .338 as a team and was led by Trevor Clark with eight kills.
