Adam Schulte picked to all-state men's volleyball tourney team

Irvine Valley freshman men's volleyball player Adam Schulte was named to the California Community College Athletic Association all-tournament team Saturday night after the state final at El Camino.

Orange Coast, seeded second, swept No. 1 Long Beach State in the state final.

It was OCC's first state title since 2017 and continued its dominant 2022.

Irvine Valley lost to Orange Coast in the semifinals on Thursday, 25-22, 25-20, 25-15, and finished the year with an overall record of 17-5 overall.

Schulte has been a star for IVC for two years. Irvine Valley and Schulte played a shortened Orange Empire Conference season in the spring of 2021.

The 6-1 libero out of Servite High, helped the Lasers to an upset OEC title win over Orange Coast in 2021. He averaged a team-high 2.65 digs per set during the 2021 season.

Irvine Valley finished with a conference record of 8-2 overall in 2021.

Schulte was even better with a full schedule in 2022.

He averaged 2.79 digs per set, which led the IVC team.

Schulte also finished with 16 aces, which was second on the squad.

He was first in the OEC with 201 total digs and ranked second in the conference in digs per set at his 2.79 total.

Schulte finished with double-digit digs in nine matches on the season for the Lasers with a season-high 22 digs in a 3-2 IVC victory over Miramar on Mar. 2.
