No. 3 men's volleyball team sweeps No. 8 Fullerton Friday night

Irvine Valley's men's volleyball team, ranked No.3 in the state, took down another squad in the top 10 Friday night at home.

The Lasers led early and often and swept No. 8 Fullerton, 25-16, 25-18, 25-14.

IVC improved its record to 13-3 overall and 3-1 in conference. The win was Irvine Valley's seventh sweep of the year.

Fullerton's record slipped to 8-7 overall and 1-2 in OEC play.

Irvine Valley got big night's from several players.

Freshman opposite Griffin Book led the way with nine kills and hit .667 and seven block assists for the Lasers.

Freshman outside hitter JT Demure ended with seven kills, hit .300 and had four digs and four blocks.

Freshman middle blocker Josh Beymer had himself a night with six kills on six swings and finished with one solo block and eight assist blocks for IVC.

Freshman outside hitter Jaden Churchill contributed six kills, three digs and three blocks.

Beymer and Churchill put on a show early in the third set to put IVC out in front for good. They combined for blocks on three of four winning points.

As a team, Irvine Valley hit .441 (36-6-68) and had 33 blocks as a group.

Freshman setter Donovan Gudino ran the Laser offense with 27 assists. And freshman libero Adam Schulte led the team in digs with 10.

Irvine Valley plays again next Wednesday, hosting No. 7 Santa Monica in a nonconference match at 6 p.m.
