Irvine Valley's men's volleyball team won its fifth straight match to start the 2021 season.
The Lasers moved to 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the Orange Empire Conference with a 25-22, 25-21, 25-22 sweep of Golden West.
IVC has swept all five of its matches so far.
Three players had at least 10 kills on the night Wednesday for the Lasers.
Freshman outside hitter Colin Chillingworth led the way with 15 kills and hit .500 with five digs.
Freshman opposite Garret Schnitker added 10 kills and hit .364 and freshman outside hitter JT Demure had 10 kills, six digs and hit .533.
The Lasers hit .422 as a team in the match. Freshman setter Andrew Perez ran the offense with 38 assists.
The first two sets were close early and the Lasers took over each in the final points.
IVC never led by more than four points in the opening set.
The second set was tied at 17 when IVC scored four of the next five points. A kill by Chillingworth put the Lasers up, 21-18.
Another kill by Chillingworth made it 22-19 and a block by Chillingworth and freshman middle blocker Trevor Weinert gave Irvine Valley a 23-19 advantage.
The Lasers closed the set out four points later on an ace by Chillingworth.
Irvine Valley jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the third set on a kill by Chillingworth.
Back-to-back kills by Demure gave IVC a 9-5 lead and the squad never looked back.
Schnitker had four kills in the final set.
The Lasers play again on Friday at Golden West at 6 p.m.
