Men's volleyball team takes third in a row, sweeps Moorpark
Irvine Valley's men's volleyball team is rolling. 
 
The Lasers have played nine sets and won all nine.
 
IVC swept Moorpark, 25-18, 25-12, 25-21, in a non-conference match at home Wednesday night.
 
Irvine Valley hit .408 for the night. The Lasers are hitting an impressive .377 now for the season.
 
IVC once again got contributions from a number of players. Freshman outside hitter Colin Chillingworth had a huge match. He finished with 12 kills and four aces and hit .526 in the match.
 
Freshman outside hitter Jaden Churchill had 10 kills and had the team's best hitting percentage at .533 and freshman outside hitter JT Demure finished with nine kills and six digs.
 
Laser freshman libero Adam Schulte had nine digs, freshman middle blocker Trevor Weinert added four kills and three blocks and freshman setter Andrew Perez contributed 34 assists and three blocks.
 
IVC won a back and forth first set and then played its best volleyball of the night in set two.
 
The second set was tied at 9, but the Lasers finished off the set on a 16-4 run. A kill by Churchill made it 15-10, and a kill by Weinert put IVC ahead, 20-12.
 
The Lasers scored the final six points of the set. An ace by Chillingworth brought IVC to set point and then after blocks by Perez and Weinert, Moorpark was called for doubles on a set to end things.
 
The third set was also close for a while. Irvine Valley led, 11-10, before going on a run. The Lasers scored six of the next seven points. 
 
Irvine Valley led, 20-15, after a kill by freshman opposite Garret Schnitker. But Moorpark rallied. The Mauraders scored four the next five points, capped by a block for a point by Hunter Maier to get Moorpark within 21-19.
 
The Lasers came back with three of the next points and moved to match point on a block by Schnitker.
 
After a net call on Irvine Valley, the squad ended the set and the match with a block by freshman opposite Julio Gutierrez on an attempted overpass kill by the Mauraders.
 
The Lasers play again on Friday, hosting a scrimmage against Antelope Valley at 2 p.m. No scoring, stats will be posted. But Streaming information will be posted Thursday afternoon.
