Men's volleyball team takes down another four-year school

Irvine Valley's men's volleyball team beat its second straight four-year school on Friday.

Two days after taking down NAIA Hope International in four sets at home, the Lasers recorded a 25-15, 25-18, 25-22 victory over the University of St. Katherine.

St. Katherine is a four-year National Christian College Athletic Association school in San Marcos.

It was IVC's third win in a row and improved its record to 3-1 overall.

Irvine Valley's offense was clicking in the afternoon contest. The Lasers hit .388 as a team. Sophomore setter Austin McBain ran the offense with 36 assists.

Irvine Valley got 12 kills from sophomore outside hitter Patrick Furlong, who also hit .455.

Sophomore middle blocker Matt August hit .556 and had 11 kills and three aces, freshman outside hitter Sean Carroll recorded eight kills and hit .353 and sophomore outside hitter Brennan To had five kills and hit .400.

Freshman libero Kelsey Yogi finished with 13 digs in the three sets. McBain also had five digs.

Irvine Valley, which is ranked No. 3 in the state , plays again next Wednesday, traveling to El Camino for a 6 p.m. match
