Irvine Valley's men's volleyball team had some trouble in its last match.
Grossmont pushed the Lasers, who are ranked No. 1 in the state, before IVC came through with a five-set win last week.
Irvine Valley had no such problem on Wednesday night at home.
The Lasers fired on all cylinders from the start and swept Miramar, 25-15, 25-9, 25-20.
Irvine Valley won its third match in a row and improved its record to 6-1 overall, while Miramar fell to 3-4 overall.
IVC stayed perfect against community college teams. The Lasers' lone loss was to four-year, Division II Concordia.
The Lasers hit a super impressive .585 as a team on Wednesday with every one of its players hitting .500 or better.
And freshman setter Austin McBain spread around the wealth.
Freshman middle blocker Matt August recorded 11 kills and hit .526, freshman outside hitter Brennan To had 10 kills and hit .529, sophomore outside hitter Cody Hermanson had eight kills and hit .636 and freshman outside hitter Patrick Furlong added six kills and hit .714.
McBain ended with 38 assists.
Sophomore outside hitter Ruben Lopez had five digs and three aces to go along with five kills and August also contributed four blocks.
August finished the first set with a kill.
And then IVC opened the second set by scoring the first five points. After net on Miramar, Lopez had two aces, Furlong killed an overpass, Hermanson had a kill and Irvine Valley was on its way.
Irvine Valley took a 13-3 lead on a kill and then a block by August. August later added an ace to make it 15-4.
Later, August had another kill to give IVC a 23-8 advantage. After a kill by Miramar, the Lasers scored the final two points of the set. Miramar served out and then freshman outside hitter Spencer Alden closed out the set with a kill.
Miramar hung around in the third set. The Jets were within two points most of the way. But up, 17-14, IVC took control, scoring four of the next five points. A kill by To and then a lift called on a Jet set gave IVC a 21-15 lead.
Miramar pulled within 21-18 on a block by Grant Dunlop and was within 23-20 on a kill by Levi Vermeulen, but Irvine Valley got back-to-back kills by Hermanson and Furlong to end the match.
Irvine Valley plays again on Friday when it travels to San Diego Mesa for a nonconference match at 6 p.m.
