Men's volleyball team has big night in sweep of Palomar

Irvine Valley's men's volleyball team improved its record to 2-1 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play with a 25-20, 25-19, 25-21 win at Palomar on Wednesday night.

The win moved Irvine Valley into a tie for third place in the conference standings with Orange Coast.

Golden West improved to 3-0 with a win over Orange Coast in five sets on Wednesday.

Grossmont leads the conference with a record of 4-0. The Griffins swept Miramar on Wednesday.

Irvine Valley hosts Grossmont in a big match on Friday at 6 p.m.

The Lasers hit a season-high .411 as a team in the win over Palomar on Wednesday.

Freshman opposite Kyle Radecki led the way with 18 kills. Freshman outside hitter Garret Costello added 11 kills, freshman middle blocker Jack Heinrichs had nine kills and three blocks and sophomore middle blocker Robert Ryley and freshman outside hitter Ruben Lopez each finished with six kills.

Sophomore setter Peter Van Liefde ended with 50 assists to go along with four kills and two aces.

Palomar hit just .182 as a team in the match.
