Men's volleyball team goes up against OCC in state semis

Irvine Valley's men's volleyball team plays rival Orange Coast in a CCCAA State Championship semifinal match tonight at 7 p.m. at Santiago Canyon College.

Orange Coast won the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference title and IVC finished third in conference this season.

By winning the conference, OCC received an automatic berth into the semis.

The Lasers, led by Davis Cannon, AJ Hammer, Cole Murray and Kevin Vaz, moved on to the state semifinals by beating Long Beach City in a dramatic five-set match last Friday.

The Irvine Valley-Orange Coast match follows the other semifinal, which features Western State Conference foes El Camino and Santa Monica. El Camino won the WSC title and Santa Monica was third.

The two semifinal winners advance to the State Championship final match on Friday at 7 p.m. at Santiago Canyon.

Irvine Valley has won four state titles in program history with the last one being in 2011.
