The Irvine Valley men's tennis team goes into the college's spring break feeling pretty good.
IVC defeated Fullerton, 9-0, at home Friday morning in a make-up match due to a rainout two weeks ago.
The Lasers improved their record to 7-0 overall and 6-0 in the Orange Empire Conference. Fullerton fell to 0-12 overall and 0-6 in conference.
Irvine Valley picked up a default at No. 3 doubles to start and then won matches at No. 1 doubles with sophomore Devon Kashishian and freshman Alyan Ashraf, 8-2, and at the No. 2 position with sophomores Harold Santana and Kiichi Ishida, 8-1.
In singles, the Lasers were even better. IVC won the five matches played. It picked up a default on the sixth court.
Irvine Valley's top five singles players, Ishida, Kashishian, Ashraf, Santana and freshman Sergio Jardas didnt drop a set and only gave up seven games total.
Highlight matches cane from Kashishian and Jardas who each won, 6-0, 6-0.
Ishida, at No. 1 singles, closed out the match with a tough 6-3, 6-2 victory over Jamie Duffin.
Irvine Valley plays its final two matches of the regular season Mar. 28 at Fullerton at 2 p.m. and then hosts Riverside with a conference title on the line on Mar. 30 at 2 p.m.
