Men's tennis team sweeps Saddleback for second time

Irvine Valley's men's tennis team recorded its biggest win of the season on Tuesday at Riverside, taking the match, 5-4, with a victory in the last singles match of the day.

The Lasers kept it rolling on Thursday and stayed undefeated on the year with a 9-0 Orange Empire Conference win at Saddleback.

Irvine Valley improved its record to 5-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play.

IVC swept Saddleback for the second time this year.

Irvine Valley won each doubles match easy and took every singles match in straight sets.

Highlights from the afternoon included IVC sophomore No. 1 singles player Kiichi Ishida winning, 6-0, 6-1, freshmen Devon Kashishian  and Sergio Jardas giving up just two games on courts two and five and freshman Rudra Pathak winning, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 6 singles.

In doubles action, the teams of Kashishian and freshman Aylan Ashraf (8-2), Ishida and sophomore Harold Santana (8-3) and freshman Alexis Sueur and Jardas (8-3) each had no problems for the Lasers.

Irvine Valley plays again next Thursday at home against Orange Coast at 2 p.m. in a conference match.
