Tennis player Hugo Redelinger signs with Lubbock Christian

Irvine Valley men's tennis player Hugo Redelinger is signing with NCAA Division II Lubbock Christian University in Texas.

LCU tennis programs will compete in their first season of Lone Star Conference and NCAA competition in the fall semester of 2022.

It will mark the university's first intercollegiate tennis competition since the 1981-82 school season, as LCU competed in the NAIA.

LCU's tennis roots date back the to the early days of the university, which included a 1960 NJCAA Team National Championship.

Lubbock Christian's programs will compete at Penny Gullo Tennis Center, which will be completed on LCU's south end of campus.

Redelinger, from France, has been a key member of the Irvine Valley team the past three seasons.

The Lasers finished with a record of 11-4 overall this past spring and won another Orange Empire Conference title. Redelinger helped IVC win three OEC titles in a row.

Two of the squad's losses this past season were to four-year schools and the other two came to eventual California Community College Athletic Association state champion College of the Desert.

IVC did win the Orange Empire Conference title with a record of 8-0 and reached the semifinals of the CCCAA So. Cal. regional playoffs.

Redelinger played in singles and doubles for the Lasers and qualified in singles from the Orange Empire Conference tournanament in singles to the California Community College Athletic Association So. Cal Regionals this past season.
