More accolades for the Irvine Valley men's tennis team

The Irvine Valley men's tennis team earned more recognition recently from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

The Lasers were ranked No. 3 in the final ITA California Community College poll behind only state champion College of the Desert and Ventura.

Irvine Valley had a record of 11-4 overall and won the Orange Empire Conference with a record of 8-0 overall this past season under head coach Ross Duncan.

The ITA also announced its top 50-ranked singles players and best 25 doubles squads.

Freshman Arthur Bellegy was the top ranked singles player and also No. 1 in doubles with freshman Kichii Ishida.

And that was no surprise sincee Bellegy captured the state singles crown and teammed with Ishida to win the state doubles title this year.

Freshman Pierre Vandegaer, who reached the semifinals of the state tournament, was ranked fourth in singles.

Other IVC players ranked in singles included freshman Luis Moros at No. 11, freshman Inaki Braun Simo at No. 15, freshman Victor Chaix at No. 17, Ishida at No. 24 and freshman Hugo Redelinger at No. 24.

Besides Bellegy and Ishida in doubles, the IVC duo of Simo and Vandegaer, which made the semis of the state event, was ranked No. 3.

The team of Moros and freshman Julio Vargas was ranked No. 16.
