Men's tennis team dominates Orange Empire Conference tourney

Irvine Valley's men's tennis team swept up the Orange Empire Conference Tournament like it did during the regular season.

Irvine Valley placed six singles players and three doubles teams into the event and every player and duo qualified for the Southern California Regionals event later this month at El Camino.

The OEC tourney took place at Irvine Valley last Thursday and Friday.

Eleven players qualified from conference schools on to regionals and the Lasers claimed six of those spots with freshmen Arthur Bellegy, Pierre Vandegaer and Luis Moros taking the top three places.

Freshman Inaki Braun Simo finished fifth, freshman Victor Chaix came in seventh and freshman Hugo Redelinger made it as an at large selection at No.10.

Bellegy was named the Orange Empire Conference player of the year last week.

The automatic qualifiers in doubles included IVC taking the top three spots.

Bellegy and freshman Kiichi Ishida were named the top team, Moros and Chaix were second and Vandegaer and Braun were slotted third.
