Men's tennis team routs Saddleback to finish regular season

Irvine Valley's men's tennis team wrapped up a perfect and dominant 8-0 Orange Empire Conference campaign Thursday afternoon at home.

The Lasers defeated Saddleback, 8-1. 

The match IVC dropped on Thursday was its only one in conference. The Lasers out-scored opponents, 71-1, in OEC action.

Irvine Valley improved its overall record to 10-3 overall.

IVC's only three losses this season are to top-ranked College of the Desert and to two four-year schools - Concordia and Pomona Pitzer.

Irvine Valley now awaits the announcement of the So. Cal. Playoff pairinings. The Lasers are expected to be on of the top three seeds and will host at least one playoff match.

On Thursday against Saddleback, IVC won all three doubles contests easily, getting a 8-0 win on the No. 1 court from freshmen Julio Vargas and Luis Moros, a 8-1 victory from the No. 2 team of freshmen Pierre Vandegaer and Inaki Braun Simo and a 8-2 triumph from the No. 3 duo of freshman Trevor Quenan and Victor Chaix.

In singles, Quenan led the way, winning, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 4 spot.

Vargas, Chaix, freshman Hugo Redelinger and freshman Harold Santana also scored straight-set victories.

Saddleback won its lone match with a default on the sixth court.
