Men's tennis team stays perfect in conference play

Irvine Valley's men's tennis team took down another Orange Empire Conference opponent, 9-0, on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lasers were perfect at Saddleback, winning all three doubles matches and then sweeping the six singles contests.

Irvine Valley improved its record to 5-3 overall. Two of those losses are against four-year schools.

Against Saddleback, the Lasers dropped six total games in doubles and 14 games total in singles.

Freshmen Arthur Bellegy and Kiichi Ishida won, 8-1, at No. 1 doubles, freshmen Julio Vargas and Luis Moros came out on top, 8-3, on the second court and Victor Chaix and Trevor Quenan won, 8-2, at No. 3 doubles.

Highlights on the singles courts included Bellegy, winning, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1, freshman Pierre Vandegaer also winning, 6-0, 6-0, and freshman Hugo Redelinger coming through, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 4 singles.

Freshman Inaki Braun Simo, Blake Anderson and Harold Santa also won singles matches in straight sets for Irvine Valley.

The Lasers play again on Thursday in a conference match at Fullerton at 2 p.m.
