Men's tennis team takes down conference rival Riverside, 9-0

Irvine Valley's men's tennis team battled College of the Desert, Concordia University and Pomona-Pitzer in tough defeats.

But the Lasers are seeing an easier time in the Orange Empire Conference.

After sweeping Fullerton on Tuesday at home, IVC went on the road and took care of one of their recent OEC rivals.

The Lasers dropped just 17 games in 15 sets in a 9-0 victory over Riverside.

Irvine Valley improved its record to 3-3 overall.

IVC received impressive performances across the lineup with freshmen Arthur Bellegy, Julio Vargas, Pierre Vandegaer, Luis Moros, Kiichi Ishida and Inaki Braun Somi all winning in straight sets in singles.

Ishida dropped just one game and Bellegy and Vandegaer each only lost two games in their straight-set victories.

In doubles, the highlight was Bellegy and Ishida's 8-0 win on the first court over Riverside's Rafa Rullan and Carlos Rullan.

The Lasers are back in action next Tuesday at home against Orange Coast in a conference match at 2 p.m.
