Men's tennis team goes down to the final match with Concordia

Irvine Valley's men's tennis team gave NCAA Division II Concordia all it could handle in a match on Tuesday at home.

The Lasers started off fast, winning all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead.

IVC's No. 1 team of freshman Arthur Bellegy and Kiichi Ishada won, 8-3, the No. 2 squad of freshman Luis Moros and freshman Julio Vargas came out on top, 8-5, and the Laser No. 3 team of Inaki Braun Simo and Pierre Vandegaer won, 8-2.

But Concordia bounced back in the singles competition, winning on the first, second, fifth and sixth courts.

The match was tied at 4-4 after Vandegaer defeated Concordia's Adam Large, 6-3, 7-4, at No. 3 singles.

And there was one match left.

It came down to the fourth court.

Moros and Concordia's Mike Jensen went into a third set with Jensen pulling out a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory to help the Eagles capture an overall win.

Irvine Valley plays again on Thursday, traveling to play another four-year school, San Diego Christian.
