Men's tennis team wins again, sets up conference showdown

The Irvine Valley men's tennis team captured its fifth straight victory in the abbreviated 2021 season, beating Saddleback, 7-2, Thursday at home.

All that stands between IVC and a perfect year now is a match next Thursday at Riverside.

The top two teams in the conference will meet, May 20 at Riverside at 2 p.m.

Irvine Valley stayed undefeated at 5-0 with a 7-2 victory against Saddleback on Thursday. The Lasers also beat Saddleback Tuesday on the road, 8-1.

On Thursday, Irvine Valley won two of three doubles matches and then shined again in singles, taking five of six matches in straight sets.

In singles, IVC top player Julio Vargas stayed undefeated on the season with a 6-1, 6-3 victory.

Other victors for the Lasers in singles were freshman Victor Chaix (6-0, 6-4), freshman Luis Moros (6-0, 6-1), freshman Hugo Redelinger (6-0, 6-0) and freshman Cole Martin (6-0, 6-0).

IVC's top two doubles teams of Vargas and Moros (8-3) and Redelinger and Chaix (8-0) also earned easy wins.
