Men's tennis team rolls to 8-1 victory at Saddleback

Irvine Valley's men's tennis team moved a step closer to winning an Orange Empire Conference title.

The Lasers beat Saddleback, 8-1, on Tuesday on the road to stay unbeaten on the year. The squad improved its record to 4-0 overall and 4-0 in conference.

Irvine Valley has two matches left. It plays at Saddleback on Thursday and then has a make-up match at Riverside on Thursday, May 20.

The Lasers won two of three doubles sets and then cruised in singles to topple Saddleback.

In doubles, IVC picked up wins from its top two teams. Freshmen Julio Vargas and Luis Moros won, 8-0, at the top spot and freshmen Victor Chaix and Hugo Redelinger came out on top, 8-1.

Irvine Valley captured each of the six singles matches in straight sets and Laser players dropped just 12 total games.

Vargas won, 6-0, 6-4, at No. 1 singles, Moros came through, 6-2, 6-0, at the No. 2 spot. Chaix won, 6-0, 6-1, in the third position, Redelinger swept, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 4 singles, freshman Cole Martin won, 6-1, 6-2, at the fifth position and freshman Mingyu Shim won, 6-1, 6-1, on the sixth court.
