Men's tennis team ranked No. 4 in state in final 2020 ITA poll

Irvine Valley's men's tennis team was ranked fourth in the state in the final 2020 Intercollegiate Tennis Association California Community College Athletic Association Top 25 Rankings released this past week.

The Lasers were off to a 5-1-1 start to the 2020 spring season before the year was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

And Irvine Valley was already 4-0 in the Orange Empire Conference, having defeated Saddleback (9-0), Orange Coast (8-1), Fullerton (7-2) and Riverside (6-3).

IVC was on track for another OEC title and its second in a row.

Irvine Valley was ranked only behind College of the Desert, American River and Ventura in the state poll. The Laers were next at No. 4 with Cerritos, Foothill, San Diego City, Riverside, Santa Barbara City and Glendale making up the rest of the top 10. The full state rankings can be seen here 

Members of the team include Blake Anderson, Victor Chaix, Akshay Harishankar, Jacob Holiday, Julian Lafond, William Li, Mateo Maya, Luis Moros, Leonardo Oliveira, Hugo Redelinger, Jorge Villagra and Scott Yoder.

Oliveira recently signed to play at NAIA Westcliff University in Irvine.
