Men's tennis team takes sole possession of first in the OEC

Irvine Valley's men's tennis team moved into sole possession of first place in the Orange Empire Conference with a 7-2 win over Fullerton at home on Tuesday.

Both Irvine Valley and Fullerton went into the contest undefeated in conference.

IVC improved its record to 4-1-1 overall and 3-0 in the OEC, while Fullerton went to 8-5 overall and 2-1 in conference.

The Lasers were on point from the start, winning two of three doubles matches and then taking five of six singles contests.

In doubles, Irvine Valley's top team of sophomore Julian Lafond and freshman Luis Moros came out on top, 8-5, and its No. 3 team of sophomore Mateo Maya and freshman Victor Chaix won, 8-3.

And in singles, Lafond, Moros, Chaix, freshman Hugo Redelinger and freshman Blake Anderson all won easy matches in straight sets.

Anderson won, 6-0, 6-0, on the sixth court.

Lafond and Moros only dropped a game each, Redelinger allowed only two games and Chaix gave up only three games.

Irvine Valley plays another conference match on Thursday, traveling to Riverside.
