
Irvine Valley's men's tennis team continued to roll heading into its spring break.
The Lasers won their eighth straight match, sweeping Santa Barbara City, 9-0, in a nonconference match on Thursday afternoon at home.
IVC hasn't lost since its first official match of the season (5-4 to Cerritos) on Feb. 12.
Thursday's win improved Irvine Valley's record to 8-1 overall.
IVC had no problem getting another win on Thursday.
The Lasers won all six singles sets in straight sets.
And their third, fourth, fifth and sixth singles players gave up just eight games combined.
Freshman Julian Lafond won, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 3 singles, freshman Derek Lin came out on top, 6-3, 6-1, on the fourth court, freshman Rodrigo Souza won, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 5 singles and freshman Mateo Maya cruised, 6-0, 6-0, at the sixth position.
In doubles, Irvine Valley also took care of business.
IVC's top team of Lafond and sophomore Leszek Mirecki won, 8-4, the No. 2 team of Lin and freshman Parker McBride earned an 8-1 victory and the No. 3 team of sophomores Amir Safi and Thallys Santos won, 8-0.
Irvine Valley gets a break from match action. The Lasers don't play again until Tuesday, Mar. 26 against Saddleback in a 2 p.m. Orange Empire Conference contest.
