The Irvine Valley men's tennis team wrapped up the first round of Orange Empire Conference play unbeaten with a 9-0 win at Saddleback on Thursday.
The Lasers had no trouble with the Gauchos to improve their record to 5-1 overall and 4-0 in conference.
In conference play, the Lasers have now swept three of their opponents. Their toughest match so far in the OEC was a 7-2 win at Riverside this past Tuesday.
Against Saddleback, IVC players didn't drop a set in singles.
The closest match came at the No. 1 position where Laser freshman Parker McBride defeated Shayan Haddadkaveh, 7-6(7), 6-3.
Irvine Valley received easier straight set wins from sophomore Leszek Mirecki, freshman Julian Lafond, freshman Derek Lin, freshman Rodrigo Souza and sophomore Thallys Santos.
Souza dropped just one game at No. 5 singles and Santos only lost two sets at No. 6 singles.
In doubles, IVC got victories from its teams of Mirecki and Lafond, McBride and Lin and Santos and freshman Mateo Maya. Santos and Maya won, 8-1.
Irvine Valley now bounces right back with another match Friday at home, taking on nationally ranked Arizona Mesa at 10 a.m.
