The Irvine Valley men's tennis team is ranked No. 6 in the latest Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association NJCAA Men's Regional Rankings for Southern California.
Irvine Valley, which is the three-time defending CCCAA state champion, wasn't ranked to star the year.
The Lasers started the season with five straight losses. But four of those defeats were to four-year schools. The other was against No. 1 and state favorite this season Cerritos.
IVC has rebounded since and has five wins in its last six matches. The Lasers are now 5-7 overall and moved to 5-2 in the Orange Empire Conference with a 6-3 win over Saddleback on Tuesday.
Irvine Valley is in third place in the conference standings and chasing two teams that are head of it in the latest rankings.
Riverside is ranked No. 2 and Cypress is fourth in the poll.
Cerritos remained at the top spot.
The Lasers are back in action next Tuesday at home against No. 4 Cypress in a conference match at 2 p.m.
