Men's tennis team has trouble against talented Cerritos squad

Irvine Valley's men's tennis team played its first community college opponent of the season on Tuesday.

And the Lasers had a tough time against one of the best teams in the state.

IVC, the two-time defending CCCAA Team Dual State Champion, fell to Cerritos, 9-0, at Cerritos.

Irvine Valley's record slipped to 0-4 overall, while Cerritos improved to 6-1.

Cerritos took a commanding 3-0 team score lead after doubles play and then carried that over into singles action, where they recorded six straight set wins.

The closest doubles match came at the top of the order, with Irvine Valley freshmen Michael Bott and Thallys Santos losing to Kent Hunter and Victor Castro, 8-5.

Irvine Valley dropped all six singles matches in straight sets.

Bott fell, 6-1, 6-3, to Hunter at the first singles spot.
