Men's tennis team topples Division III Wisconsin-Whitewater

Irvine Valley's men's tennis team defeated NCAA Division III Wisconsin-Whitewater on Wednesday at home.

Irvine Valley, ranked No. 1 in the state and the two-time defending state champion, improved its record to 12-0 overall.

Wisconsin-Whitewater slipped to 8-7.

IVC won two of three matches in doubles play and then captured five of six matches in singles.

In doubles, IVC's top team of sophomores Lucas Lesoeur and Luis Castillo defeated Jimmy Engelhart and Zane Navratil, 8-3.

The freshmen duo of Wyatt DeMulling and Chris Politiek cruised to a 8-0 victory on the second court.

In singles, IVC won five of the six matches in straight sets.

DeMulling defeated Navratil, 6-4, 6-2, on the first court and Lesoeur beat Engelhart, 6-2, 6-1, in the second singles spot.

Politiek won, 6-4, 6-1, at third singles, sophomore Gavin Lynch won, 6-1, 6-4, at the fifth position and Castillo was a 6-3, 6-3 winner on court six.

Irvine Valley had its match with NCAA Division II Concordia cancelled due to rainy conditions on Tuesday.

The Lasers play again next Tuesday, hosting Fullerton at 2 p.m.
