Men's tennis team handles Fullerton to stay unbeaten

Irvine Valley's men's tennis team ran its record to 6-0 overall and won its second straight match to start Orange Empire Conference play with a 9-0 win at Fullerton on Thursday.

The Lasers, ranked No. 1 in the state and the two-time defending state champions, gave up just 18 total games in the six singles matches.

Freshman Wyatt DeMulling, freshman Leszek Mirecki, sophomore Gavin Lynch, sophomore Luis Castillo, sophomore Jack Fryer and sophomore John Knight each won in straight sets.

Among the highlights were DeMulling beating Jose Bernardo Flores, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 singles and Knight topping Spencer Crellin, 6-0, 6-0, on the sixth court.

In doubles, Irvine Valley's teams of sophomore Lucas Lesoeur and Castillo, Mirecki and Lynch and Knight and Fryer had no trouble.

Mirecki and Lynch and Knight and Fryer each won, 8-1, 8-1.

Irvine Valley plays again next Tuesday, traveling to Riverside for a conference match at 2 p.m.
