Men's tennis team opens conference play with easy win

Irvine Valley's men's tennis team started Orange Empire Conference play with an easy 9-0 win at Orange Coast on Thursday afternoon.

The Lasers, ranked No. 1 in Southern California and the two-time defending state champions, cruised in the three doubles contests and won all six singles matches in straight sets.

Irvine Valley, which has also won three straight Orange Empire Conference titles in a row, had freshman Leszek Mirecki drop just one game in his straight-set win at No. 5 singles.

And sophomore Luis Castillo lost just two games at the No. 6 singles spot for IVC.

Freshman Wyatt DeMulling, sophomore Lucas Lesoeur, sophomore Javier Callejo and freshman Chris Politiek also won in singles for IVC.

In doubles action, Irvine Valley got wins from the teams of Lesoeur and Callejo, DeMulling and Politiek and Mirecki and sophomore Gavin Lynch.

DeMulling and Politiek won breezed, 8-0, at No. 2 doubles.

Irvine Valley improved its record to 3-0 overall and handed Orange Coast its second straight loss.
