Tennis player Flavien Raveau signs with Eastern Washington

Irvine Valley sophomore tennis star Flavien Raveau has signed with Division 1 Eastern Washington University.

Raveau (Paris, France) will be joining the Eagles as a junior for the 2016-17 season after completing two seasons at Irvine Valley. He will also be joined by IVC teammate Scott Paz at Eastern Washington.

As the team captain for IVC, Raveau led the Lasers to two consecutive CCCAA state championships along with two Orange Empire Conference titles in a row. Raveau played mostly No. 1 or No. 2 singles and doubles for Irvine Valley this past season.

Irvine Valley had a record of 39-3 during his two years at the school with all three losses coming to four-year colleges.

"I am excited to have Flavien on the team," said Eastern Washington coach Steve Clark. "We are going to have a lot of depth, and guys that have high expectations and experience. Flavien is talented and wants to win. I very much appreciate how he came to be on the team, the thought process and what he values, and showing a team oriented and sacrificial mindset. Our team will be much stronger with him on the roster."

In his freshman season, the southpaw reached the semifinals in singles at The Ojai tennis tournament where the community college state championships were held.

His performance also earned him a spot on the ITA All-American team for Junior Colleges in 2015. Raveau went 11-5 in singles on the year.

This past season, Raveau reached the quarterfinals of the state tournament.

He had a record of 6-1 on the year in doubles and went 6-4 in singles action.

Eastern Washington had a record of 8-18 overall last season. The Eagles will have seven players returning to the team for the 2016-17 season.
