Men's tennis team finishes unbeaten in conference once again

Irvine Valley's men's tennis team completed its third straight undefeated Orange Empire Conference campaign with a 9-0 win over Saddleback on Thursday at home.

Irvine Valley, the defending state champion and ranked No. 1 in Southern California, improved its record to 7-2 overall and 10-0 in conference.

The win also gave IVC its third straight conference title. 

Irvine Valley won six of its 10 matches in conference by scores of 9-0.

It gave up just seven total matches in its 10 team wins. 

Irvine Valley captured five of six singles matches in straight sets. 

IVC sophomore Flavien Raveau held on to beat Saddleback's Riku Goto, 6-3, 0-6, 7-6 (11-9) at the No. 1 singles position.

Freshman Octave Bellet, sophomore Bruno Figlia, freshman Juan Navarro, sophomore Scott Paz and sophomore Tony Selim each won easily in other singles matches for Irvine Valley.

Bellet only lost one game in his match and Selim dropped just two games in his victory.

In doubles, IVC's top team of sophomore Sam Cohen and freshman Javier Callejo won, 8-2, over Goto and Mike Park.

The IVC teams of Figlia and Paz and freshman Gavin Lynch and sophomore Kevin Pham also came away with comfortable wins.

Irvine Valley now awaits the seeds for the Southern California Regional Playoffs, which will be announced on Sunday.

The Lasers are expected to earn the top seed.
