Irvine Valley standout men's tennis player Simon Guillin recently signed with Division 1 University of Oregon.

Guillin, who finished his sophomore season this past spring, was a two-year star player for the Lasers and helped Irvine Valley win the program's first California Community College Athletic Association State Championship earlier in 2015.

He was also named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American.

Guillin played No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles for IVC the past two seasons.

He had a record of 8-3 in singles and 12-3 in doubles during the 2015 season.

Guillin also reached the final of the state doubles tournament with teammate and BYU-Hawaii signee Guillermo Ucelay.

He made the quarterfinals of the state singles event before losing to eventual champion Hinori Koyanagi from Ventura.

Guillin, from France, helped Irvine Valley's team have a record of 18-1 last season and 35-4 the past two years.

During that time, Irvine Valley also won two Orange Empire Conference titles and won the award at the State Tournament in Ojai for most match wins.

Guillin is heading to an Oregon squad that went 15-9 last season and made it to the quarterfinals at the PAC-12 Championships. The Ducks were ranked in the top 50 in the country.
