Men's tennis team improves record to 10-0 with sweep of OCC

Irvine Valley's men's tennis team shutout its fifth opponent so far this season with a 9-0 win over Orange Coast in an Orange Empire Conference match on Thursday at home.

It was the fourth time in conference that the Lasers, who are ranked No. 1 in Southern California, blanked an opponent.

Irvine Valley improved its record to 10-0 overall and 6-0 in the conference.

The Lasers remained a match ahead of Saddleback for first place in the conference standings.

Irvine Valley won all three doubles sets easy and took five of six singles matches in straight sets.

Irvine Valley freshman Flavien Raveau rallied to beat Orange Coast's John Lieu, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 1 singles.

Freshmen Carson Williams, Bruno Figlia, Scott Paz, Stan Gavoty and sophomore Max Rumeau each won other singles matches for the Lasers.

Paz (No. 4 singles) won, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.

Gavoty gave up just one game at the No. 6 spot and Figlia dropped just two games at No. 3 singles for IVC.

Irvine Valley plays again on Friday, hosting NAIA ranked Concordia at 12:30 p.m.
