Men's tennis team beats rain, San Diego Mesa

Irvine Valley's men's tennis team made quick work of San Diego Mesa on the road on Thursday.

The Lasers had to.

They were trying to beat the incoming rain.

Irvine Valley finished all six singles sets before the rain hit and came away with a 6-0 win over Mesa in a nonconference match.

The Lasers won five of the six in straight sets.

Freshmen Guillermo Ucelay (No. 2), Kevin Pham (No. 5) and Max Rumeau (No. 6) along with sophomores Steven Le (No. 3) and James Lafond (No. 4) each won in straight sets.

Pueyo and Le each only gave up one game, while Rumeau allowed just two games.

At the No. 1 spot, freshman Simon Guillin came away with a tougher win. He won the first set, 7-5, and dropped the second set, 2-6, but won a 10-point tiebreaker, 10-7, to pick up the victory.
