Men's soccer team back on track with win at Santiago Canyon

The Irvine Valley men's soccer team picked up its first win in Orange Empire Conference play with a 3-1 victory at Santiago Canyon on Tuesday.

The Lasers have been close all season, losing six games by just one goal.

They shined on Tuesday.

Irvine Valley improved its record to 3-8-1 overall and 1-3-1 in OEC play.

Irvine Valley received two goals from sophomore Armon Haghighat in the win.  

Freshman midfielder Cristian Sanchez got things started for the Lasers with a goal in the third minue off of an assist by freshman forward Mason Tracey.

The Lasers struck again in the the 18th minute with a goal by Haghighat off of an assist by freshman forward Marcio Costa to take a 2-0 lead.

Irvine Valley closed out the game in the 69th minute with a goal from Haghighat off a pass from freshman midfielder Luke Newman for the 3-1 win.

Freshman keeper Josh Simonton played the full 90 minutes and gave up one goal, but didn't have to make a save in the win.

IVC hosts Orange Coast in a conference match on Friday at 3 p.m.
