Irvine Valley sophomore forward Fred Becovic is headed to NAIA Westcliff University in Irvine.
Becovic helped IVC finish with a record of 12-4-6 overall and 7-6-1 in the Orange Empire Conference for second place last fall. Irvine Valley fell, 1-0, in double overtime at Mt. SAC in the playoffs.
Becovic played in 20 matches and started 17 contests for the Lasers.
He had an assist in Irvine Valley's key 2-1 win over Cuyamaca early in the year.
Becovic also played for the Lasers during the 2018 season when IVC went 8-9-3 overall and 5-6-3 in conference play and made the playoffs.
He finished with two goals and two assists on the year, including scoring a game-winning goal in a 3-0 victory over Orange Coast.
Becovic, from Irvine High, is headed to a Westcliff program that had a special season in the fall of 2023. The Warriors finished No. 13 in the nation in the NAIA.
Westcliff ended with a record of 18-2 overall, won the Cal Pac Championship with a mark of 11-1 and reached the round of 16 of the NAIA Soccer Championships.
