Showdown for men's soccer team vs. Fullerton Tuesday at home

The Irvine Valley men's soccer team takes on Fullerton Tuesday afternoon at home at 3 p.m. in an Orange Empire Conference and state showdown.

Fullerton leads the conference by six points and has been ranked No. 1 in the state for weeks.

The Hornets have a record of 14-1-1 overall and 7-0-1 in conference. They have won six straight matches.

One of the only two non-wins for Fullerton was a 3-3 tie with the Lasers on Sept. 29 at Fullerton.

IVC rallied from three goals down to earn the exciting draw.

The Lasers haven't been beaten in conference play either, sporting a record of 4-0-4. Irvine Valley, ranked No. 12 in the state last week, have a record of 9-2-4 overall. 

IVC has won three straight contests and is unbeaten in its last 12 contests.

Leaders are all over the board in the conference for both teams.

For Fullerton, Misael Gonzalez paces the conference in goals with 17 and points with 41.

Keeper Mario Floriano leads in save percentage at .840, goals against average 0.73 and goals against with only 4.

Fullerton's other keeper, Jonathan Otiz, has only given up five goals and has a .828 save percentage.

Irvine Valley sophomore forward Grant Miller is tied for second for goals in the IVC with nine and sophomore forward Ivan Lopez is tied for fourth with eight.

Lopez is first in the conference in assists with 11 and second in points with 27. Miller is fifth in points with 20.

And IVC freshman keeper Josh Simonton is fourth in save percentage at .729 and goals against average at 1.52.
