Men's soccer team ends up with 2-2 OEC draw at Santa Ana

Irvine Valleys men's soccer team scored another tie in Orange Empire Conference play on Tuesday.

The Lasers, ranked No. 13 in the state, went up, 2-0, at No. 11 Santa Ana, but ended up with a 2-2 tie after the Dons scored goals in the 69th and 71st minute.

Irvine Valley's record went to 6-2-3 overall and 1-0-3 in conference play. Santa Ana went to 6-3-2 overall and 2-1-1 in conference.

IVC sits in fourth place in the conference standings.

The first half was scoreless on Tuesday.

Irvine Valley started the scoring early in the second half with a goal by freshman forward Armon Haghighat off of an assist from sophomore forward Grant Miller in the 52nd minute.

And then IVC took a 2-0 lead in the 58th minute when sophomore forward Ivan Lopez found the back of the net off of a feed from sophomore midfielder Jacob Edwards.

The Lasers had more chances, but the Dons came back.

Isaac Pineda scored on a pentalty kick for Santa Ana in the 68th minute to make it a 2-1 game.

Paul Carillo scored on a header from Pineda in the 71st minute to tie the score.

IVC's Lopez nearly scored in the final minutes, but the ball was not called being over the goal line.

The Lasers play again at home on Friday, hosting Saddleback at 3 p.m.
