Men's soccer team wins third straight, takes down LA Harbor

The Irvine Valley men's soccer team kept up its solid play with a 3-1 win over LA Harbor on the road in a nonconference game Friday afternoon.

It was the Lasers' third straight win and improved their record to 3-2-2 overall. LA Harbor's record fell to 0-2-4 overall.

In the last three contests, Irvine Valley has out-scored its opponents, 11-3.

Sophomore forward Benjamin Asabi has three of those goals, including two against LA Harbor on Friday.

He got the Lasers on the board early, scoring in the 20th minute on a penalty kick.

IVC then went ahead, 2-0, in the 35th minute when freshman midfielder Joshua Lummis scored off a corner kick from freshman midfielder Juan Gomez.

Asabi put the game away late with a solo effort, beating a defender and scoring in the 82nd minute.

Irvine Valley sophomore keeper Nathan Kling made five saves on the contest.

Irvine Valley will try to stay hot when it hosts San Bernardino Valley next Tuesday at home. The Wolverines come to IVC with a record of 5-1-0 overall.
