Men's soccer team drops tough contest on road at El Camino

Irvine Valley's men's soccer team had its opportunities, but couldn't find the back of the net in a tough, 1-0 loss at El Camino in a nonconference match on Tuesday.

IVC is still looking for its first win of the season.

But Irvine Valley has played some tough competition so far.

The Lasers were coming off playing two tough teams over the weekend in the annual Hartnell tournament.

IVC tied Fresno City, 0-0, last Friday and then fell to host Hartnell, 3-2, on Sunday.

El Camino scored the only goal early on, getting a score from Olivar Diaz in the sixth minute.

Freshman forward Max Kleinhammes led Irvine Valley with four shots and freshman midfielder Dowan Kim had three shots, including two on goal.

Sophomore goalie Nathan King ended with four saves.

Irvine Valley's record slipped to 0-2-2 overall, while El Camino went to 2-0-1.

Irvine Valley plays again on Friday at home, hosting Southwestern at 3 p.m.
