Men's soccer player Michael Davis to join Westcliff program

As the Westcliff University men's soccer program continues to take shape for its inaugural season in the fall of 2019, the Warriors have added another Irvine Valley player to its roster.

Sophomore defender Michael Davis recently signed with Westcliff, joining former IVC teammates Daniel Segal and Sergio Montes.

Davis played in 16 of Irvine Valley's 21 matches and started nine of them. Irvine Valley finished with a record of 8-10-3 overall and 5-6-3 in the Orange Empire Conference, but with a strong strength of schedule still made the CCCAA regional playoffs.

He helped the defense record six shutouts on the year.

And In Irvine Valley's push to make it into the postseason late in the year, the defensive unit, with Davis, gave up just 11 goals in nine contests.

He also scored two goals on the year for Irvine Valley.

Davis was also part of the 2017 IVC squad that went 12-5-5 overall, made the playoffs and reached the second round of the regionals before losing in penalty kicks at Mt. SAC.

Davis, who played at Woodbridge High in Irvine before coming to Irvine Valley, is joininng a Westcliff program that is scheduled compete independently next season.

Davis, Montes and Segal will play for new coach Joey O'Keefe.
