Irvine Valley's men's soccer team battled to a draw with the top team in the Orange Empire Conference on Friday at home.
The Lasers came away with a 0-0 draw with Fullerton.
Irvine Valley's record went to 4-6-3 overall and 2-3-3 in conference, while Fullerton's record moved to 11-2-1 overall and 6-1-1 in conference.
The match was the first of the second round in conference play.
Fullerton stayed on top of the conference standings with the tie. Irvine Valley remained in sixth place in the OEC.
Scoring opportunities were tough for both teams on Friday as teams fought for possession in the midfield for most of the contest.
Ryu Ichihara shot wide and Jacob Aldana headed the ball over the top of the goal for Fullerton early on in the game.
Irvine Valley's best chance in the first half - a shot by sophomore forward Grant Joyce - was saved by Fullerton keeper Kevan Rehmani.
The Lasers played more forward in the second half and out-shot Fullerton, 7-3.
One of Irvine Valley's best chances came late in the contest when sophomore forward Daniel Segal got loose in the Fullerton defensive end. He rifled a shot from just outside of the box that swerved toward the right side of the net, but Rehmani was able to dive, make the save and knock the ball away.
IVC sophomore defender Sergio Montes had a free kick sail over the top of the goal moments later.
Irvine Valley freshman goalie Nathan King earned the clean sheet and made three saves on the afternoon. Rehmani made five saves for Fullerton.
The Lasers play again on Tuesday, hosting Golden West in a conference match at 3 p.m.
