Men's soccer team scores two late to win at Norco

Irvine Valley's men's soccer team came away with a hard-fought 2-1 win at Norco in an Orange Empire Conference match on Friday.

The Lasers had to score two late goals to get the result.

After a scoreless first half, Norco got on the board when Kevin Marrero scored in the 55th minute.

Irvine Valley chased for a goal the rest of the way.

And the Lasers came up with two in the final eight minutes of the contest to earn the victory.

Freshman midfielder Marco Peccolo scored in the 82nd minute on a volley and then freshman midfielder Alexis Campos hit the game-winning goal in the 88th minute off an assist from sophomore defender Andrew Hernandez.

It was both Peccolo and Campos' first goals of the season for IVC.

Irvine Valley freshman keeper Braden Peters made four saves on the afternoon.

The win kept Irvine Valley near the top of the conference standings and improved the Lasers' record to 4-4-3 overall and 2-1-2 in conference.

Irvine Valley plays again next Friday, hosting Santiago Canyon at 3 p.m. The match opens the second round of conference play.
