Men's soccer team back in state rankings at No. 13

The Irvine Valley men's soccer team is back in the California Community College Men's Soccer Coaches Association State Poll.

The Lasers, who are riding a five-match win streak and are currently in first place in the Orange Empire Conference are ranked No. 13 in the state this week.

Irvine Valley is seventh among South Region squads behind Cerritos, Mt. SAC, Santa Barbara City, Rio Hondo, Compton and Long Beach City.

IVC has a record of 8-4-3 overall and 6-1-2 in conference. It leads Golden West by a point in the conference standings.

The last time Irvine Valley was ranked was Oct. 1 when the Lasers were 14th in the state.

Irvine Valley was ranked as high as sixth in the state on Sept. 12. The Lasers were also eighth in the state on Sept. 25.

The Lasers won both their matches last week, including beating Fullerton, 3-1, on Friday behind two goals by freshman defender Juan Sebastian Olivares.

IVC is scheduled to play at Orange Coast on Tuesday at 3 p.m. and then hosts Santa Ana on Friday at 3 p.m. in conference matches.
