Irvine Valley's men's soccer team started the second round of Orange Empire Conference victory similar to the way it began the first round.
The Lasers took it to Santiago Canyon, coming away with a 3-1 win on the road.
IVC defeated Santiago Canyon, 6-1, on Sept. 16 at home.
The win improved Irvine Valley's record to 11-4-0 overall and 6-2 in conference.
The Lasers stayed in second place in the conference standings and within striking distance of first-place Golden West.
For the second straight contest, freshman forward Daniel Segal scored two goals.
He got IVC started in the 27th minute. After sophomore forward Sean Goode beat several defenders, the ball found its way to Segal and the top of the ox and he blasted a shot that went into the upper corner.
The Lasers led, 1-0, at halftime.
Early in the second half, sophomore forward Connor Elder made it a 2-0 lead for the Lasers with a goal off an assist from sophomore midfielder Jose Rivera.
Segal finished off IVC's scoring with a goal off a rebound off a shot from Rivera with about 20 minutes left in the match. Segal now has eight goals on the season and gives IVC at least three players with eight goals.
Goode has 10 goals and with his goal Tuesday, Elder has nine goals.
Irvine Valley has 40 goals in its 15 matches this season, out-scoring opponents, 40-19, overall and 23-9, in conference play.
Santiago Canyon got a goal from Bryan Chavez just before the end of the contest to help the Hawks avoid the shutout.
Freshman keeper Blake Sigler ended with four saves in goal for IVC. He played the first 80 minutes with freshman Colin Smith spending the final 10 minutes in goal.
Irvine Valley plays again on Friday, hosting Fullerton in a conference match at 3 p.m.
