Irvine Valley's men's soccer team finished up the always tough Hartnell Tournament with a 2-1 victory over Las Positas in the third-place match on Sunday.

Irvine Valley ended up winning two of three contests in the tournament.

The Lasers beat Lake Tahoe, 2-0, in the opening game on Friday, lost to Fresno City, 4-0, in the semifinals on Saturday and then took down Las Positas on Sunday.

Irvine Valley fell behind, 1-0, in the first two minutes of the game to Las Positas.

But the Lasers equalized in the 35th minute. Freshman defender Peyton Stade found the back of the net with a header off an assist from sophomore forward Connor Elder.

Then in the 67th minute, Stade and Elder hooked up again. This time Stade found Elder, who tapped the ball in. It was Elder's team-leading third goal of the season.

Irvine Valley dominated much of the match after giving up the early goal.

The Lasers, who improved their record to 3-1-0 overall, play again on Wednesday, hosting Moorpark at 1 p.m.
