Men's golf team finishes strong at Arroyo Trabuco

Irvine Valley's men's golf team had a solid showing in its final match before the Orange Empire Conference Championships.

The Lasers finished fourth at a conference match hosted by Saddleback on Monday at Arroyo Trabuco.

IVC finished with a team total of 385 to place ahead of both Mt. San Antonio and Riverside.

Irvine Valley picked up two wins in the process to improve its record to 7-33 on the season. The Lasers are tied with Riverside for fifth in the conference standings.

Orange Coast won the match with a five-player score of 374.

Cypress was second at 383, Saddleback came in third at 393 with IVC following at 395. Mt. SAC was fifth at 398 and Riverside came in sixth at 399.

The Lasers were paced on the par 72 Arroyo Trabuco course by freshman Dustin Vasquez, who finished with a 2 over par 74.

The Lasers then had three players all come in at 80. They were freshmen Jackson Bragg, Troy Nueva and Caleb Humble.

Rounding out the team's scorers was freshman Greg Williams, who shot 81.

Next up for the Lasers is the conference championships starting on Monday, March 29 at Royal Vista Golf Club in Walnut at 7 a.m.

Vasquez currently ranks 15th in the among conference individual scorers with an 18-hole average on the season of 75.6. Bragg is 24th at 79.9.
