Irvine Valley's men's golf team didn't have quite the same round Monday as it posted on the first day of the Point Conception Open Sunday morning.
The Lasers shot a team score of 406 in the final round on Monday to take seventh place out of 15 teams.
IVC was tied for fourth heading into Monday's round at La Purisima in Lompoc.
Irvine Valley finished with a two-day tally of 799.
Santa Barbara's No. 1 team won the event at 762.
Palomar was second at 763 with Santa Barbara City's No. 2 team taking third at 765.
Reedley ended up fourth at 768 with Cypress fifth at 771 and Mt. SAC in sixth at 786.
Irvine Valley's top player was freshman Dustin Vasquez, who shot 75 on Monday and ended up with a two-day total of 154.
Vasquez was the only IVC player to shoot in the 70's on Monday.
IVC coach Ailam Newkirk has been impressed with Vasquez's play so far.
"He started us in the fall and I thought he might play down in the lineup, but Dustin is willing to learn and take constructive criticism from his coaches," she said. "He listens and practices hard. He is a team player. He really cares about his teammates. And he is a fighter on the golf course."
Freshmen Jackson Bragg and Caleb Humble each shot 81 in the final round. Bragg's two-day total was 156 and Humble finished at 158.
"Jackson's ball striking was so pure and Caleb also struck the ball really well," Newkirk said.
Irvine Valley is back in action at the Orange Empire Tee Off Classic next Wednesday at Candlewood Country Club in South Whittier.
