Men's golf team looking to improve in conference play

Irvine Valley's men's golf team shot 415 and finished with a record of 0-5 in Wednesday's Orange Empire Conference match hosted by Cypress at the Navy Course.

Santiago Canyon shot 367 and went 5-0 to win the contest.

Cypress and Orange Coast tied for second at 378 with Cypress earning second place on a tiebreaker.

Saddleback was fourth at 382 with Riverside in fifth at 385.

For Irvine Valley, sophomore Steven Zezima had one birdie, nine pars, six bogeys and two double bogeys for an 81, which was IVC's low score.

Freshman Bruce Miranda and sophomore Andrew Licthty each shot 82.

Miranda had nine pars, eight bogeys and one double bogey and Litchty finished with one birdie, seven pars, nine bogeys and one double bogey.

Sophomore Joe Gordon came in at 83 with eight pars, nine bogeys and one double bogey.

Freshman Kurt Hendricks shot 87 and freshman Albert Arvayo had the throwout score of 95.

Irvine Valley plays again next Wednesday in another conference match at El Prado in Chino. The match is hosted by Santiago Canyon.
