Men's golf team plays in OEC finals, Noblitt moves on to So. Cals.

Irvine Valley's men's golf team finished its team season on Monday at the Orange Empire Conference Championships at Los Serranos in Chino Hills.

Irvine Valley ended up fifth in the morning round with a team score of 386 on the south course for a record of 1-4.

The Lasers finished three shots ahead of Saddleback. IVC was just eighth shots back of both Orange Coast and Cypress for third.

IVC was then fifth in the afternoon on the north course with a score of 400.

The Lasers beat Cypress by four strokes in the afternoon to again go 1-4.

IVC was paced by sophomore Nate Noblitt, who finished with a 72 in the morning round and then a score of 73 in the afternoon.

His 72 in the morning round was fourth best overall.

Noblitt finished tied for third overall in the tournament.

Chad Hambright of Riverside finished with cores of 67 and 70 for medalist honors at 137.

But Noblitt's combined score of 145 qualified him as an individual for next Monday's Southern California Regionals at Olivas Links in Ventura.

Noblitt ended up finishing eighth overall in scoring average in the conference with an average of 75.3.

Sophomore Jeff Lacambra came in at 75 and 80 and was Irvine Valley's second best finisher.

Freshman Trevor Frankhauser also had a solid conference finals effort. He finished with scores of 79 and 78.

Freshman Joseph Gordon shot 81 and 84 at conference finals and freshman Andrew Lichty shot 80 and 85 in his two rounds for IVC.

Irvine Valley ended the team season with a record of 7-48 in conference.

Riverside won the conference with a mark of 49-6. The Tigers also won the conference finals.

The Tigers had four players come in under par during the morning round on the par-74 south course, helping the team to a five-man team score of 14-under-par 356 and a 5-0 record.

Riverside's 9-1 record on the day helped the Tigers win the title over Santiago Canyon (44-11). Orange Coast placed third in the conference with a 35-20 record.
